What is Trust?
Imagine a work environment where everyone's actions are always guided by TRUST. Wouldn't working in such an organization be ideal?

You can trust me...I promise!

Trust Isn't Just a Word

In everything we do, in everything we say, there is some element of trust. Do you see me as trustworthy? Do I see you as trustworthy? Can I trust this person? Just trust me! Trust, without a doubt, is always operating in every interaction we have. It is one of the most important elements in successful business and personal relationships. Trust is a mind-set, a biased feeling, that over time we all develop. It can take a long time to establish and be easily broken.

Time-tested trust in any relationship, most often allows for forgiveness when one of the individuals has been let down or disappointed by the other individual. This is because there is a large investment in maintaining the relationship at both ends. Time-tested trust creates an unwavering dependability on one another, in the knowing that commitments and agreements will be honored. This level of trust is developed over the course of years, and the benefits received are immeasurable.

Earned-trust is just that: "earned". The trust has developed, but can still be compromised. "Well, so far I can trust him, but let's wait and see if he continues to do what he says". Some track record has been established with earned trust, but the antenna is still up, wondering if she'll continue to make good on her commitments.

TWD focuses on taking people and companies to places they only dream about.

Forced-trust is trust by default. This form of trust occurs when individuals are put into situations needing to depend on others that they don't know, to do their part. There is no history or track record that gives any frame of reference to either party as being trustworthy. Forced trust creates higher levels of anxiety and uncertainty for individuals in the work place because of fears of looking bad if their counterpart doesn't pull their weight.

Forced trust has the potential of creating chaos in the workplace, leaving employees feeling insecure and resentful. It can also create drama and hurt feelings in your personal life, if trust is betrayed early on. Both forced and earned trust can create major challenges in the workplace. They both tend to contribute to an environment of fear and anxiety that can slow productivity and smother creativity. Attempting to work out issues where trust has been compromised at the forced or earned trust levels, can make workforce moral take a nose dive.

The majority of workplace relationships fall between forced and earned trust. A colleague of mine once told me: You're dealing with people and their emotions all of the time. Your challenge is to build assurance grounded in reality, by keeping your promises to others. Always remember to be trustworthy and the results will build on their own, over time. Time-tested trust will then manifest.

If you find yourself asking: What does this mean and how does it work for me?

We will show you how to use trust at many different levels, in order to improve your work experience and/or your personal relationships. The process of shifting attitudes, ideas, emotions, behaviors and belief systems are all interwoven into the trust paradigm. We instruct and coach individuals and groups in understanding the different levels of trust and the associated challenges, as well as how to maximize potentials for success at those different levels.
